An apsara (or bidadari in Indonesian/Malay language or widodari in Javanese language) is a female spirit of the clouds and waters in Hindu and Buddhist mythology. They have the form of a very beautiful woman. English translations of the word apsara are nymph, celestial nymph or celestial maiden.

An apsara named Nawang Wulan is the main female character in the story Jaka Tarub and Seven Apsaras.
